January is finally over, February has now begun, and that means Valentine’s Day is just around the corner (*vomits*). If, like me, you are perpetually single and loathe this corporate holiday, welcome to the club m8. To distract myself from the fact that I do not have a boyfriend (to buy me choc for V Day), I have been indulging, instead, in the two loves of my life: Netflix and Spotify. So, here is a roundup of my pop culture faves for the fabulous month of February:
Netflix
- Miss Americana
I’ve been a fan of Taylor Swift since her ‘Fearless’ era and have been following her career ever since. This new documentary about her is refreshing, because it shows a more intimate side of the singer’s life, including the ups and downs of her journey to become such a powerful artist in the music industry.
- the goop lab with Gwyneth Paltrow
Gwyneth Paltrow and her Goop employees learn about boundary-breaking techniques and healing processes to tackle universal health issues. This series is refreshingly bold and provocative—in the third episode about female pleasure, a selection of women’s vulvas are flashed on screen to show that no vulva is the same and to alleviate shame of the female body.
- Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
Sabrina is such an easy show to binge-watch and Part 3 was no different. In this season, Sabrina is trying to juggle her two separate lives: one as Queen of Hell, and another as Sabrina Spellman on Earth. An extremely hot man (Luke Cook) plays the character of Sabrina’s father, Lucifer Morningstar, which is an added eye-candy bonus.
Spotify
- How to Fail With Elizabeth Day (S1, Ep1)
I came across this podcast the other day, and I’m definitely going to become an avid listener of it. This particular episode featured the fantastic writer, actor, and creator of Fleabag, Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Phoebe talked about how all of her failures helped her become the successful woman she is today, and it is so worth a listen.
- Maggie Rogers, Heard It in a Past Life
There’s something about Maggie Rogers’ sound that is so unique and timeless. I’ve listened to this album on repeat for the past month, and I haven’t gotten sick of it. I can honestly say I adore every single track on this record.
